We are currently conducting a study exploring how school-aged children living with chronic or complex illnesses can maintain access to education while managing their health. We would like to understand how families in rural and remote communities navigate educational access and opportunities when specialized healthcare and education services may be limited. Your experiences can help identify ways to better support children’s wellness, learning, relationships, and development.
Funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF), One Child Every Child is a research partnership bringing together the Universities of Calgary, Athabasca, Lethbridge, and Alberta, as well as Indigenous partners, Canada's child health research institutes, and local communities. For further information, visit the project description at the University of Calgary.
The current study, "Wellness Outcomes and Education Participation for Sick Children from Marginalized Populations", seeks to address challenges in staying connected to learning while living with chronic and complex illnesses and find new opportunities to improve accessibility and communication between families, their schools, health care professionals, and other resources in the community through innovative technologies.
